Today, the “Standard " newspaper published an interview with the Executive Director of BGPharmA, Mr. Rossen Kazakov, on the role of generic medicines to society.

Mr. Kazakov stated in the interview that the generic companies should have the possibility to register their medicines while the patent protection of the innovative medicines is not expired, and to receive price and reimbursement status simultaneously with the marketing authorization.

Then, they will be able to enter the market the next day after the expiry. This is the most effective way to increase the access of patients to medicines, to increase the competition and to reduce the prices of expensive drugs with expired patent.

The optimal use of the budget from the state is a solution for the insufficient resources for medicines. The generic drugs have a very important role in this respect.
